Illegals at top of Jalan Jeriji's hill
Salam and good day;
This was highlighted to me by one the guards in August. However, I was just fed up to attend issues brought up by the guards all by myself over and over again and I chose to do what Greenlaners always do - DON'T CARE and PRAY NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO ME & MY FAMILY.
However, last weekend, I climbed up the hill and was gobsmacked to see that the hill had been converted into a safe heaven by Sime Darby's D'Puncak illegal workers. The guard told me that the illegal workers wiould sleep here so that they could easily escape in case of raids by the authority. The guard did approach them and was told to mind his own business. I do not blame our guards for not taking any action as they do not have anyone to talk to. They do not have any power to do anything. No one in Greenlane bothers and so why should them.
Fearing my family and my neighbors safety, I have sent an e mail this morning to a friend in Sime Darby Property (SDP). The person has forwarded it to Customer's Service Dept. Appreciate if anyone out there who has contacts in SDP to pursue this matter. Or at least, please lodge your complaints to SDP. The more the merrier.
I’ll go to the authority if there's no action from SDP. Safety cannot be compromised and action cannot be delayed.
Actually, the guards raised a lot of concerns to me but I am too tired to act on them alone. They also do not have anyone to talk and discuss on issues. So, Greenlaners, when do we want to wake up??? Do we want to wait for another incident to happen???
After staying here for 3 years, I have concluded that getting others to assist (except the chosen few) is a total waste of time. I've long decided to tackle whatever issues that affects my family and property directly, myself.

Dear Yaroq,
Thanks for your efforts. I heard CJ telling me that he will have a look at the complain. I guess the first person the guards should see is CJ and the BJ police, who can decide to call a meeting or take some immediate action. It is not fair for you alone to get the news and be stressed. We all should be concerned. Anything can happen & no one can catch the culprits because they are illegals & can vanish overnight.
Information
Dear Yaroq,
Thank you for making the efforts to post the pictures. Our thoughts on this matter :
(a) Who really are the "residents" there? Are they related to Sime Darby (for sure)?
(b) If yes to the above - Using this forum as the reference point - we can urge Greenlaners and the community around Bukit Jelutong to second and support this "issue" by posting their comments here - and based on the collected "signatures/comments", this can be forwarded onto Sime Darby (live link) to support the notification that you have already sent to them.
(c) Finally - this does not only affect Greenlaners per say. Being a breeding place for mosquitoes and etc affects all who stays here. These things spread very fast.
Just our two cents worth... share your thoughts ?
Updates
Uncle Soong and Erl,
I cannot wait for our committee. Most of them are demoralised and it's been ages that we have had our meetings. Others, prefer 'why shud I bother' and 'let others do it' attitude. The committe is dying slowly and no one looks into the security guard issue as a group too. The guards are demoralised and they had no one to turn up too esp few individuals who also do not want to take the burden themselves while the rest of the 200++ residents prefer to hibernate in their nests.
We are fortunate that a neighbor works in the Customer Svc Dept and she had acted on the issues. These are the latest updates based on my e mail to them this morning;
1- (SDP) Damaged fence to be repaired
(Me) I hope it will be done asap. As I said the fence is not foolproof but as a deterrent only. There is an access from the Puncak Alam road at the back. Our guard even caught an intruder last year – did you know about this???. Yesterday, a neighbor slightly down the road (not on the hill section) had spotted a section of the fence had been forced open. I’ve seen at a number of locations too. However, I leave it to him to handle the issue if he wishes.
2- (SDP) Grass outside fence is being looked into
(Me) I have started to spray weed killer on the lower portion.
3- (SDP) Action has been taken on the 'safe haven' whereby all the plywood planks and plastic mineral bottles have been cleared. (as per attached photo for your reference PICT0472).
(Me) I have checked myself and would like to thank everyone.
4- (SDP) Water chamber & swampy area - Sime Darby to investigate and to update asap. (as per attached photo DSC00380, DSC00752, DSC00381)
(Me) Pls take note that the photos that Sarah published were taken in Dec 07 and March 08 (the ones with barbed wires). The current condition is very unkempt. I did comment about the water chamber during the early days but no action taken.
What do we do without you
Dear Yaroq,
You deserve a huge huge huge thank you from us all ... like the old people say : what do we do without you?
May we suggest a little something for your examplary effort :
(a) We feel that folks who contribute to the community should be recognized and rewarded in some way. We are still new and do not know every single detail of things yet (please forgive us if we are missing any thing here ok) - but perhaps something like a waiver of security fees for good samaritans like yourself - and in suggesting this - probably a "piggy" bank of fund should be collected from everyone to provide for instances like this ... collection can be done once a quarter and at a fixed rate to everyone.
(b) "Wall of Good Neighbours" (just a name that came to mind, in line with Walk of Fame) - another page on this website can be dedicated to listing the action, date and the "Good Neighbour" who worked to "fix" the issue. The list can be read by all and people will know how much has been done to look after this community and its surrounding area.
Just our 2 cents worth ... do ponder and see if it is applicable?
