and that is not all to the story ... there is more ...

apparently, I had been informed of another break-in in Jalan Ubin last week too. the modus operandi was similar to that of which was used against one of our Greenlane neighbour in the past (House no 46 jln U8/75). Only in this case, the perpetrators couldn't get into the master bedroom and ran away shortly after hearing that the home owner had called the police.

I was also informed of a break in last night, 27/2/2009 at around 3 am (but I need to confirm the details of this) of another break-in in Jalan Bidai, in which the residents had been tied up, whilst the perps ransacked through their homes.

Can anyone shed some light on these cases.

For the rest of us ... these are difficult times and we need to work together to ensure our safety and security is upheld. Now is not the time to think that we can live as an island.

Robbery at Jalan Bidai

Salam and good day...

News from Jalan Bidai.... this is from a third party and the plots may have been spiced up.

There were 3 people at that time - husband and wife + maid.
Break in at 0330 thru guest room at ground floor.
4 robbers - believed to be Indonesians
Alarm was faulty / tampered - not sure.
The master bedroom door was forced open using the gas cyclinder.
The owner and wife was tied up and not harmed.
Estimated lost - RM 100k : jewellery, cash + almost new handphones.
The maid was believed to be involved.

That's all that I can report. Maybe others with reliable source can add in.

Jalan Bidai has the strictest and most impressive security system in BJ. I hope this an eye opener for us esp those who does not want to be involved in the security service. At RM 50 per month, this is the best that we can get. Remember too that the guards, alarms etc etc are just deterrents. We had discussed on this on several postings.

Most of the break ins occurred at the back lane. Please switch on your back lane lights. Bil naik sikit tak pa janji hati senang. We are in a bad time.

I've told the guards to be careful as they can be easily overpowered by the intruders.

For the muslim neighbors, pls do not forget to recite your doas + ayatul qursi before dozing off. I'll try to write down the 'doa pendinding rumah' when I have the time.

Thieves entered house at Jalan Ubin

This was told to me by my friend who stays at Jalan Ubin:
This happened to her opposite neighbour which is a corner lot next to the TNB reserve & Bt. Cherakah forest reserve. At 4.00am on 23/2/09, the house owner(a middle-age couple) were asleep. The guessed 3 men(Indon) entered the house, searched for valuables downstairs. Then try to open the door where the owners were in, but could not open. The burglers then got the gas tank from the kitchen & try to force open the room door. The couple shouted very loud. The burglers got scared help might come, then ran towards the Bukit Cherakah forest reserve. The couple guessed they looked like Indons.

Another incident: The next day at Jalan Kubah, two cars were stolen, one parked inside the gate & the second car outside the gate.

I reckon the Homeguard should know about these cases. If anyone needs further info, they should be able to verify.

The above two incidents prove that Bukit Jelutong is not safe a place as one thinks. BJRA & other Phases Committee should seek assistance from the police.

... another house broken into at Ubin on 02/03/09

I have just been informed by Hisham that another house in Ubin has jut been broken into last night at parang point. I dont have the details yet.

Committee members, security guards and police can only do so much ... not everyone can be everywhere at any one point of time. Don't pin your hope of security and safety on others only ... we, ALL residents should work together in doing our part to ensure our safety is not compromised. ALL.

oh by the way ...

Mr Soong Sin Onn suggested:
BJRA & other Phases Committee should seek assistance from the police.

We do take note of Mr Soong's suggestion. In fact, as we had informed before (I had posted someting on 18 January 2009 - 6:45pm) saying that we do have security meetings (arranged by BJRA) with representatives from Balai Polis Bukit Jelutong, Homeguard (Sri Lara Joint Security Services Sdn Bhd), 5 Star and from the various neighbourhoods to discuss on all issues concerning security and safety AND what steps can be taken to enhance this etc. The intention is to have these security meetings monthly, but the last one we had was on 14 January 2009 - (somebody please correct me if I am wrong). Please DO read my posting for summary details of the said meeting.

As I had mentioned earlier, we ALL need to do our part. Yes, ppl like the committee members, security guards and police do make the effort to help, but honestly, they can only do so much. We can't expect to rely on them (despite their efforts, they do have their limitations) to make our neighbourhood 100% crime proof.

We need to look out for each other too (i.e. our neighbours). We need to take the time to check on house or car alarms that go off in our neighbourhood (yes, not just ours only). We need to alert others of any suspicious characters or instances. We need to take the necessary steps ourselves to ensure safety is preserved. some of us take things so lightly assuming that there will be others who will attend to it ... and that is where a major part of the problems lie.

In addition, some of us go further choosing not to part with our money (what is seen by others as a small sum) for a community security effort. Choosing to live by ourselves protected by our home alarms etc and knowing (I am not sure how) that bad things will not happen to us (and us only - caring very little of others around ourselves - I can only presume).

Such is life.

sms on a child being kidnapped going round ...

in addition to the posting by mahde on a break-in at Jalan Serambi U8/32, many residents have received sms on a child being kidnapped in BJ recently.

has anyone found out more on this? please do update us. if this is true (which at present, I have very little reason not to believe it), we, Greenlaners, really have to be careful and to look out for one another.
