guard houses, barrier gates + check points - things to look out for

Idea yes, it has long been the intention of the committee members and many concerned residents to proceed with putting up some form of barrier gate to ensure the adequate monitoring of unknown vehicles into our neighbourhood.

based on the various articles which had been posted in the past, here are a few things that we should look out for to ensure that there would be minimal objections by residents etc.

(i) the structures that we proposed to put up (the barrier gate) should not obstruct traffic on a public road - which I dont think that it does - so long as it is easily moved and does not deny anyone from entering - also see item (iv) below);

(ii) the structures are not dangerously located - which I believe it would not be. Meanwhile, we will ensure that there would be appropriate lighting in the area to make the gate fairly visible;

(iii) the structures have been erected for security reasons (i.e. and not to restrict traffic) - this is a yes for us;

(iv) the security guards should not ask for identity cards nor deprive entry to outsiders who decline to provide details - we will speak to the security service provider to ensure that this is adhered to and as such the guards are to take down details of those who wish to enter the neighbourhood. For those who decline to provide details, the guards are to take down details of the vehicles and description of those entering (where possible);

(v) the check points and/or the guard house should not give false impression by carrying logos/emblems of the police or the council on them - which we will ensure that they do not.

anyone else got anything to add?

Hi faridzr, I anticipate

Hi faridzr,

I anticipate crime rates will rise everywhere as economy turns for the worst.

1. Barrier gates - thumbs up Thumbs up When will it be implemented? I look forward to a more secure environment.

2. Fencing along the mainroad all the way the Semi Ds - I recall a suggestion on erecting this. Keeps out intruders entering from the road. Will this proceed? I'm sure there will be a cost - I am willing to participate. Cheers!

3. Intruder climbing from the GCE - anyone report similar occurance again recently?

do let me know how I can participate to make our good kampung an even better place.

Cheers!

Barrier gates are up ...

Hi Coffee,

Yup, we have already answered question 1. The 'swing gates' are up already and will be fully functional starting tomorrow (9 November 2008). I sincerely regret the inconvenience that it will cause the residents as for tonight, we would have to close the entrance road whilst the exit road has been converted to a two-way lane. Thumbs up

With regards to question 2, we had spoken earlier this evening on the matter. Yes there has been various suggestions to have some sort of fencing (the earliest being since 8 March 2007), but, as it stands now, we would first need to determine to what extent is the wall/fencing that will be put up by Sime Darby Properties for the Semi-Ds and then only can we gauge where we should put up our fence as an extension (assuming we do go ahead with this) as well the possible costs that might have to be borne by us residents. Puzzled

And to answer your 3 question, yes. and it was as recent as last Tuesday, 4 November 2008 (if I am not mistaken), when our security guards had spotted a lone figure walking the back slope in the wee hours.

We do appreciate your intentions to work together to make our Greenlane kampung a better and safer place for us all, we just wish there were more who would join us to make this change. Cry
