Doggy sent home...
not sure whether this has been posted before as i've been away from this forum for quite a long time... due to personal reasons.
anyway, just to inform all that effective march the service for the security dog had been terminated.
this is due to a couple of reasons:
1) financial
2) operations
financial:
the dog costed us rm700 a month and since our rm50 a month is just enough to cover the 3 guards, fees for the dog is solely on donation basis.
for jan, we managed to collect rm679 (only 19 residents contributed to the donation).
for feb, we managed to collect rm447 (only 12 residents donated).
for march, we have collected rm346 so far. but since the service had been terminated, i will arrange to reimburse the residents who had paid in advance for march. refer below:
1) Gerald (43, /75) - rm50
2) Anis (52, /75) - rm50
3) Jefri (1, /75) - rm50
4) Hj Omar (12, /75) - rm10
5) Farid (14, /75) - rm50
6) Hadi (17, /75) - rm40
7) Zamani (28, /75) - rm10
8) Joari (29, /75) - rm50
9) Fazz (1, /75C) - rm50
10) Rajinder (44, /75C) - rm16
operations:
our service provider, capt malik, after receiving numerous complaints from some residents that, among others, the dog is a potential threat to residents' own safety (esp fear of dog attacking kids or even adults), dog leaving behind its waste everywhere, doggy terrorising other dogs belonging to residents, and dog spending too much time guarding the back lane (which is entirely NOT TRUE); had decided this is not worth the effort.
i can't blame him esp after looking at the collection for doggy, capt is actually subsidising greenlaners and instead of getting praises, he's actually getting complaints.
so on the 3rd of march, the committee had accepted capt's decision to pull out doggy.
i for one, will miss the extra eyes that has been looking after our security the past 2 to 3 months.
doggy has proven to be a good help when he nabbed an intruder the night of new year.
and apart from Liza's incident recently, we had no break in incidents during doggy's tenure.
WELL DONE DOGGY.
I'LL MISS YOU...
from your fellow resident and treasurer,
ditto ...
to get an indication of how useful doggie was/would or might have been is quite easy really. One would need to ask oneself this ... if there are two or three perps waiting to do some very bad things, does one think they would hesitate if they see two or three guards approaching them? if no, does one think they would hesitate if they see a large rottweiler charging at them?
This is a sad day for all of
This is a sad day for all of us. That dog was no threat to residents as I have interacted with him many times. As long as he is under the care of the guards, he is very well behaved.
A 100 kg rottweiler is a greater deterrent to perps than any guard or number of guards. Imagine if they were a gang with parangs, you think our guards would risk their lives to prevent anything untoward from happening?
On the other hand, even the bravest of men with guns will run away from a snarling 100 kg rottweiler. It was unfortunate that this had to happen.
I say bring back the dog and increase the monthly fees. It is a pittance compared to the peace of mind you get when the guards are doing their rounds with him in tow.
Welcome to the neighbourhood!!!
Hi Jessie,
First and foremost, welcome to Greenlane.
And thank you for your comment.
Great to find another resident who believe in the cause.
Unfortunately, not all Greenlaners share our views.
And you've put it nicely in your posting that one should not be too calculative when it comes to security.
And sadly, we are only talking about an additional sum of RM10 per month on top of the RM50 for the guards. Well, RM7 to be exact...
Some of us are really really concern about security matters here in Greenlane.
Not sure you know, but there had been several break-ins recently in Bukit Jelutong and even in Greenlane. Most victims confirmed that robbers are Indonesians and they do come with parangs!
However, despite the initiative from a certain group to push for slight increase in the monthly security fee, another group is also very strongly against it.
I hope with more residents moving in, we could quickly get a steady collection of RM5,500 a month to call back doggy.
In the meantime, I'll bring up the suggestion for the increase of monthly fees again to the committee, line leaders and fellow residents who are free to attend our next meeting.
Maybe after doggy's gone, residents will realise that they are missing the extra eyes and ears...
Once again, thank you for your comment and hope you'll find your stay here a good one.
Regards.
Revise monthly security fees

I'm all go for the revision in security fees to bring back doggie. The donation method don't seem to be working well. Hope the other group who protested should seriously consider this aspect. With many residents moving in, think this would realise soon. RM50 a month is not too much. Many other residential areas are collecting between RM60-RM80 a month for security.
Greetings from Tropika 1 (Across the street from Park Residence)
Hi Guys/Gals,
Firstly, I wanted to introduce myself, since I cannot post anywhere, I will just park myself here temporarily, I hope you ALL will not mind. Nice little community you got going in here.
We at Tropika 1 will be getting our keys soon, I guess some people will move in, some will just wait and see. Tropika 1, only has 48 units, very low dense.
I am currently trying to source security providers to guard our Tropika 1 (just like what Greenlaners are doing). I notice you all do not have HomeGuard service? Is there something I am missing?
I have one quote from a local company offering Nepalese Elite Gurkhas, the one you see guarding DPC (Desa Park City) and YTL Puchong lakeview. Price is a bit steep, but very reliable and efficient service.
Security cannot just be limited to one taman, why not pool our resources together? Have you guys approach Park Residence about sharing security services?
