New developments in Bukit Jelutong
Plans for a new shopping development (1st Jelutong) is underway at Bukit Jelutong near the new phase at Jalan Gerbang Utama. The new develop will include a multi-storey shopping mall with parking.
This is the first time that Bukit Jelutong residence will have their own shopping area within the residential township.
However, is this good or bad? Have your say here.

I hope it is not too grand that it will attract big and happening crowd.

Clearly the small shop at the Guthrie Centre has a limited range, so a mall would be good to have as it would save us all a lot of hassle looking for fresh fish, groceries, etc. However I think we have to take some interest in the traffic flow plan - where will the entrance and exit be? I chose to live in BJ to get away from angry drivers sitting in their cars stuck in a long line near shopping malls.

yup. Heard the same thing too. My source was from one of Guthrie's personnel (though not substantiated by any documented proof), who was quite open about it and iterated that there certainly are advanced talks of a Jusco near Jalan Gerbang Utama area AND as Tesco like supermarket (note that that the word is supermarket and not one of them hypermarkets) located like as per what theFazz has said above.
Having these sort of malls/shopping centres, to a certain extent, is convenient but, personally, I'd rather not have too close to home. I don't mind travelling a wee distance for shopping.
I am certain that I do not want to see traffic jams every time I come or leave our place nor do I want to see the crowd that just seems to loiter around (don't mind genuine shoppers though). Personally, I don't want to see our area becoming another Bandar Utama or Mutiara Damansara.

I moved to BJ to escape the infamous USJ crawl and now it will be back to square one. I can bet you that crime rate / snatch thief will increase too. This is why we need security guard in our area to deter outsiders from tresspassing.
Heard also that a PETRONAS petrol will be built near the multi colored shops. Shell is not interested as Guthrie is selling land at a premium.
Also a surau is in the pipeline.
masterplan anyone?
does anybody have access to the Guthrie / Bukit Jelutong masterplan? Perhaps you can share for benefit of other residents.
further developments
i was at the guthrie d'pangkin opening yesterday. had the opportunity to chat with the guthrie rep there and asked a few questions about the near future developments.
1. 1st jelutong at persiaran gerbang utama near the GCE
guthrie sold the land to a third party who will be developing a mall centre around the area near the d'pangkin. the anchor tenant is expected to be tesco (tesco express).
2. jaya jusco on the 9 hole golf course
jaya jusco is building a super shopping mall on the golf course. some pieces of land will be reserved for a public park.
3. development near d'pangkin
the plot of land next to d'pangkin is being developed for (i) a primary and secondary school, (ii) a surau, (iii) a petronas station.
these are what i found out.
my main concern was on (1) as this would affect the entrance into our area. need to check with MBSA to find out whether there are any plans for road widening.

Looks like I hv to move again but where to??? I can bet you that it will be another Bandar Utama in the making. The only reason I chose BJ is the atmosphere but now.....
Don't count on MBSA. We're not Datuks or Tan Sris that they want to please.

Don't think I'll move out that soon since most of my savings hv been splashed onto the house. Kind of slowing down now. Furthermore, I like the environment + neighbors. I know a lot of people than my 11++ years in my previous neighborhood. When is the planned get together?

Guthrie Medical Township
Met few of my school mates last evening and one of them is a Project Manager in Putrajaya Holdings. He told me that they are currently proposing and negotiating with Guthrie in colloboration with UiTM to set up a medical township along the Guthrie Corridor Expressway. He did mention that they are targetting the golf course and he's quite sure about it. Told him that Jusco is to be constructed there. I'll advise if there is any latest development.
... and so the work has started
Don't really know what they are building ... but the work has certainly started near the roundabout. all that dirt.
noticed that they have started works on the petronas station too.
